Your book will be made up primarily of Book Pages. Other content types such as Content Pages, News, etc. cannot be added to books. You may add the occasional Landing Page as the top-level page or as a chapter-heading page.
Please note, top-level book pages cannot be unpublished without disrupting the structure of the book and potentially other books. Other book pages with child pages must also remain published, or you may disrupt the structure of their book.
Adding pages to a book
To add a new Book Page, follow the instructions to Create a new book. In the Book Outline section, select an existing book and set the parent item.
Landing Pages in Books
If you want more flexible widget and layout options, you can add a Landing Page as your book’s top-level page or as a chapter-heading page. To add a Landing Page to a book, follow the instructions to Create a new book. In the Book Outline section, select an existing book and set the parent item.
Editing Book Pages
To edit a Book Page, visit the page and click the Edit tab. See the instructions in Create a new book for information on fields and configuration settings.
Moving pages to different books
To move a page from one book to a different book, visit the book page and click the Edit tab. In the Book Outline section, select a different book and select the parent page. Or, select “<create a new book>” to create a new book with the current page as the top page.
When you move a page to a new book, any child pages will also be moved. The hierarchy of child pages will be preserved.
There is a limit of 9 levels of depth (including the topmost level) for any book. If moving a page would cause you to exceed this limit, that option will not be available.
