People Listing Widgets

Overview

By default, all People content will show up at the path "/people" on your site, and will be displayed as a sortable table with Name, Job title, and Role. This is not the only way to feature People content on your site. You can customize the default /people page to change or use a different People widget, or feature People widgets on any page that can be customized.

Several of the People widgets can be filtered by "Role" (person types) and/or Departments (see Create People Content).

People Listing Widgets

To see the available list of People widgets, and to use them on your pages, go to Customize this Page, hit the plus icon for the region where you'd like to place the widget, and select "People" from the "Add Existing Content" section.

Grid

The "People Grid" will create a grid of photos. Each photo will also include the Person's name and their job title and department, if applicable. The Grid widget can be filtered by "Department" and "Role."

Teaser Listing

The "Teaser Listing" will feature a list of People content. It will show the Person's name, job title, department, and a teaser of the Bio/CV text if used, with a "Read More" link that goes to the individual Person items.

The teaser text can be configured in the "Edit Summary" option of the individual Person item (see Create People Content). You can optionally designate how many People you'd like to display (a pager will show up at the bottom if there are more People items available), and also filter by Person Type (role), as well as by Department.

Mini Listing

The "Mini Listing" will feature a list of People content. It will show the Person's name, job title, and department.

You can optionally designate how many People you'd like to display (a pager will show up at the bottom if there are more People items available), and also filter by Person Type (role), as well as by Department.

Table

The "People Table" widget features People content in a sortable table with Name, Job title, Role, and Research Interests (if used).

This widget has several configuration options. It can be filtered by role and/or department, you can choose how many items should show up, and you can choose which fields to display (i.e., Name, Role, etc.).

Thumbnail List

The "People Thumbnail List" widget will display People in a vertical list, with the photos to the left of the Person's name, role, and some teaser text from the Bio/CV field (if used). You can designate which teaser text will show up by utilizing the "Edit Summary" option on the individual Person items (see Create People Content).

You can also optionally designate how many People will show up in the list (a pager will show up at the bottom if there are more People items available), and filter by Role and/or Department.

Full Listing (and filter/search)

The Full Listing widget will display a set of People and allow site visitors to filter the set of People by Keywords, Topics, Department, and Role. If you have a large set of People, then using this widget will allow site visitors to search and filter through the results.

The Full Listing widget has several configuration and display options. By default, the widget will display all of the People on your site in a table, sorted by name with 20 items per page. You can make additional configurations as needed (all configurations are optional): Add a title, use or not use a pager, select the number of items to show in the list, and choose the display type (fields, content, table).

The "display type" settings in particular will allow you to have similar displays to the above People widgets (such as Grid and Thumbnail List). "Card" display will look like a People Grid, whereas "Featured Image Left" and "Featured Image Right" will look like the Thumbnail List.

The "Pager" Option

The "Use pager" checkbox will be checked by default, and the pager will show up at the bottom of the widget if there are more content items available than the number of content items allowed in the "Items to Show" field. You can un-check this box to not show a pager.

Additionally, if you will be featuring additional Listings widget on the same page, and if the multiple Listing widgets will each have a pager, then you will need to put a number in the "use pager" field (a number other than 0, such as 1). This will distinguish the pagers from one another, allowing site visitors to select from each pager. (If the number isn't added to the "use pager" field, then selecting a number from one pager will select the same number from the other pager as well.)
