As part of our preparation for the next generation of our platform, we have deprecated some of the layouts that are currently available. The next generation platform will use a more flexible approach to page layouts, which will make many of the existing layouts unnecessary.
List of deprecated layouts
The layouts that are no longer available for new content are: Alameda, Bolinas, Geary, Haight, McCoppin, Rolph, Sanderson, Shattuck, Taylor, Tilden, and Tomales.
Existing pages that use these layouts will not change, but you will be unable to create new pages using these layouts, or change existing pages to use them.
Alternative layouts
There are some alternative layouts to the ones that have been deprecated; see the Table 1, below. The alternative layouts may have additional rows/regions, but empty rows are collapsed and do not take up any vertical space, so the display will be the same as the deprecated layout if you leave the additional rows empty.
Deprecated layout | Alternative layout |
---|---|
McCoppin | Oahu or Muir |
Geary | Oahu or Muir |
Rolph | Lakeshore Flipped |
Sanderson or Sanderson Flipped | Lakeshore or Lakeshore Flipped |
We may deprecate more layouts in future Open Berkeley releases. Decisions on which layouts to deprecate are based on their usage for different content types, and the availability of alternative layouts. Please email web-platform@berkeley.edu with any questions.
