Square and rectangle styles for Photo Thumbnail and Promo with Image widgets
When creating Photo Thumbnail and Promo with Image widgets, you now have the option to choose a square or rectangle image style. A copy of an image you upload, or choose from the library, will be scaled and cropped to fit the dimensions of the widget.
Before this update, Photo Thumbnail and Promo with Image widgets did not enforce consistent aspect ratios for images, resulting in inconsistent display and vertical alignment of widgets. Consistent use of these new styles will help you align your widgets vertically across page regions. Existing widgets created previously will not be changed, and can still be edited or moved. All new Promo with Image and Photo Thumbnail widgets will be created with these new, consistent aspect ratios.
See Image Shapes and Sizes for more information about preparing images for use in Brand widgets.
Improvements to Text Box and Video Split Hero widgets
Text Box and Video Split Hero widgets have been updated to more closely align with Brand standards. In particular, they have been adjusted so that images are no longer upscaled and partially obscured by the text box. If you have modified any of your Hero images to work around the previous limitation, you should upload a new image.
New and recategorized Hero layouts
The new release includes Hero versions of the Oahu and Kauai layouts. Layouts have been reorganized into just two categories: Standard layouts and Hero layouts. There is no longer a distinction between "Radix" and "Open Berkeley" layouts. Hero layouts are only available on the home page and other landing pages (for using the full-width Hero widget and Color Bands).
Display adjustments
In order to more closely align with the Berkeley Brand standards, we have made some minor changes to various aspects of page display. These include:
- Changing the responsive stacking behavior, so that multicolumn layouts stay multicolumn at some narrower widths.
- Adjusting the margins on items in mega menus.
- Adjusting the vertical alignment of the text in Landing hero widgets.
- Removing "Web" from some Brand color names, after the Brand team synchronized print and web colors.
- Adjusting the "Bay Fog" color.
