Site Builder Role

Featured Image

Overview of the Featured Image option

A few Open Berkeley features require the addition of a "featured image" on the original content item. The image can be uploaded or selected from the image library during the process of creating/editing a content item.

A featured image should be added to content items when using the following features:

How to Add Links

Overview

Links can be internal (pages on your website), external (other websites), anchor links (also known as jump links), and attachment links (PDF, Word, etc.).

Links can be added to both text, as well as images.

Edit Content

Overview

To edit a page, navigate to that web page when you are logged in, and you will see an “Edit” Tab.

Reusable Content

Overview

When adding a new widget or modifying a current widget, you can check "Make this reusable" to easily re-use the widget on other pages. When you update a "Reusable content" widget, the update will be made on every page where the widget is featured.

Adding and Editing Top Results

Overview

See Top Results for information on how keywords work and when to use them. To use the Top Results feature and add/modify keywords, see the below notes and instructions.

Edit Site Information

You can edit the name (title) of your site (the text in the banner region of the page, to the right of the Berkeley workmark), or update the email address used for your site if desired.

From your Site Builder dashboard, click "Edit Site Information" under "Other Administration".

Click "Save configuration" when you are done making your edits.

Add Attachments

Summary

Attachments like PDF, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint documents can be added to Open Berkeley sites as downloadable links. You will upload the attachment first, and then add a link that allows site visitors to click and download. File size is limited to 50 MB because larger file sizes can cause degraded performance.

Photo Thumbnail with Zoom

The Photo Thumbnail with Zoom allows Site Builders to show a photo in widget, and then when a user clicks on the widget, a larger zoom (modal) version of the photo pops up. The Photo Thumbnail with Zoom features a line of text (a title) to accompany the photo, with the option to include a photo credit and caption as well.

Service Catalog

Service Catalog provides a content type and a listings page that you can use to publicize services that your department provides. You can add an icon, link (for online services), and service categories for each service.

Add Map

NOTE: If you would like to embed a map featuring multiple locations (using Google's "My Maps"), see Google and bConnected Widgets. Otherwise, for a map of just one location, see details below.

To embed a map of a single location in a widget, choose the "Add Map" option. Add the street address of the location you would like to feature, and a Google map will be generated.
