Some Open Berkeley sites were built before the Public Affairs branding initiative was rolled out to the campus. If your site is using the previous theme, we would like to work with you to enable the Berkeley Brand theme on your site. The theme only has to do with the design ("look and feel") of the site - your content will not change.
How do I know if my site is on the older theme?
Sites built before the Berkeley Brand theme became available have a dark blue banner region with the word "Berkeley" in gold (among other differences in color, fonts, etc.):
In contrast, sites on the Berkeley Brand theme have a white background, the Berkeley wordmark, gold site name, etc.:
Why should I upgrade to the Berkeley Brand theme?
By upgrading to the Berkeley Brand theme, you will be supporting Public Affairs' efforts to "unify the Berkeley web presence"! Additionally, using the branded theme will give you access to the latest features that are only available with this theme, such as:

Lastly, any new development of the platform is targeted for the branded theme, so in addition to the widgets mentioned above, forthcoming new features may also be limited to the new theme.
What is the process for upgrading to the Berkeley Brand theme?
The process of upgrading to the brand theme is very easy! Here's how it will go:
- Email web-platform@berkeley.edu to get started.
- The Web Platform Services team will enable the Brand theme on your test site first, so that you can get a preview of what the new theme will look like with your content and site structure.
- When you're ready, the Web Platform Services team will enable the Brand theme on your live (production) environment.
