Beginning on 2/22/17, Internet Explorer 9 will no longer be supported for Open Berkeley sites as it is out of compliance with campus minimum security standards.
Per the Information Security and Policy team: "The Minimum Standards for Network Devices (MSSND) policy applies to all devices in use on the UC Berkeley network. It requires both use of an operating system supported by the vendor, and all programs as well. Internet Explorer 9, and any version before the most current IE 11 is no longer being supported by Microsoft and its use will not meet MSSND requirements effective Jan. 11, 2017. Windows Vista support ended April 10, 2012, UNLESS special Extended Support was purchased. If it was, extended support from Microsoft will end on April 11, 2017."
If visitors to your websites are using Windows Vista, you should inform them that they will need to use an alternative modern browser (e.g., Firefox and possibly Chrome, check with your technical support) until April 11, 2017, at which point Vista itself will be out of compliance and unsupported by Microsoft. For visitors who are unable to upgrade beyond IE 9, display of your websites may be affected. However, all site content will still be available.
