Most Open Berkeley sites do not need to send out email messages. (Because all sites use CalNet authentication, there is no need for password-reset messages.) The campus bMail service uses an aggressive spam-blocking system. Any email sent from most Open Berkeley sites is likely to be blocked before it even hits the recipient's spam folder.
Certain alpha features, such as Event Registration and Workflow, require the ability to send email messages. Sites using these features must do some additional configuration on their departmental (SPA) bMail account and email address. Once this is in place, the Open Berkeley admin team can configure a site's mail settings so that outgoing messages won't be blocked.
If you are using a feature that sends email messages, contact email@example.com for more information.
